Alaska State Historical Records Advisory Board (ASHRAB) Awards Glenn Cook Certificate of Excellence
On October 26, 2011 the ASHRAB awarded Glenn Cook, former State Archivist and Deputy Director of the Division of Libraries Archives & Museums, an archival Certificate of Excellence for his outstanding contributions to the profession from 2009 - 2011. During his time as Archivist Cook planned and oversaw construction of a new offsite storage building in Juneau for archival records; planned, coordinated, and managed installation of earthquake shelving in the Archives building; and, provided leadership for focused outreach and training for statewide ASHRAB activities.
Cook was an active member of the Society of American Archivists, Council of State Archivists, and served as coordinator of the ASHRAB. He also was on the Board of Directors for the Alaska Historical Society and the Greater Anchorage Chapter of the Association of Records Managers & Administrators. Cook recently left Alaska to take a public records administrator position in Arizona.
The ASHRAB, coordinated by the State Archivist, is a 10-member Governor-appointed State Board. The ASHRAB believes that the collection and preservation of historical records, Alaska’s priceless legacy, are fundamental to understanding our past and guiding our future. This was the ASHRAB’s first Award.
